Final Double Page Spread Draft

This is my final double page spread, I have now added more text to the interview. I have changed font style, size and colour. I have also added more pictures on the right hand side and added tour dates, I have also gone through the interview to check spelling and to check whether it makes sense, I have also added page numbers and have changed the size of the title it is now bigger. I am pleased with the final double page spread now I need to evaluate my project about what i thought was good and what needs to be improved.

This is my second draft i have now made the spread bigger I need to now think about changing font, also size and colour. I also need to work on putting something in the blank spaces as there is rather a lot of space left over, I may also change background colours and add more text.

Here is my first double page spread daraft, it looks okay however, the text needs to be a different colour also the background could do with being improved i also need to work on quotes and title, the fonts also need to be changed.

Final Double Page Spread Layout

This is my final layout draft, I like this the best as it is set out neatly, there will be one picture which will take up half a page, Then there will be a quote from the text. The rest will bee taken up by a jam packed interview which will be a good read for music fans. I have chosen this layout, now I need to have a think about colours, pictures font Etc. and I need to think about what should be added in the interview

Double Page Spread Layout 2

Here is my second idea, I like this as it has one page with text, the other will contain pictures and quotes from the interview. Obviously When it comes to creating my actual double page spread, I will think about the pictures, colours and content for the interview also I will look at font and font colours.

Double Page Spread Layout 1

This is my first idea for the layout plan for my double spread page interview. As you can see it is set out into pictures and text, it would be an equal proportion of text to picture. There will also be a quote from the text to engage audience to attract them to the text. There will coloured pictures to grasp the audience attention. But I have other layout ideas which I perfer but this was the first idea which came to me.

Final Content Draft

Here is my final contents draft, I have now added an editors photo, I have also added more contents and have added issue number and date. I have also added more into the editors column and I have edited pictures to make them look more clear and professional. The title is now bigger to engage audience, also Each Section is titled so the reader can look for exactly what they want they are big and bold so that they can be noticed easily.

I have changed the size of the the titles, I have also changed the background colour and have added a picture of myself.

But there is still improvement needed, I feel i need to edit the pictures to make them more stylish and i will also change background colour again as i still do not like the current colour there is also alot of space in the contents which needs to be removed It needs to have more information on the contents page.

First Draft Content

Here is my first contents page draft, its needs some improvement i may try to change colours and font styles, I also need to make Titles bigger. I need to add a way to contact the magazine via text, letter and emails so we can gain some feedback so we can try to improve the magazine each week. I also need to add a picture of myself into the editors Column. I also need to experiment with the background colours to make my contents more intersting.

I particularly like this plan as it would have an equal amount of text to picture however other details would be added to make the contents page look more professional, know I have to decide which layout plan I like the most and then use it to start creating the final draft so I can start to create my final draft.

This is another idea but it needs work it is a bit plan and needs other information like competition information and contact information but i do like the idea of the large picture which takes up half of the page as a contents page needs to be attractive and interesting it would be boreing with too much text.

Contents page Layout draft 1

This is my first idea for the layout of the contents page. This is just a rough draft of what the final draft will look like, as you can see there will be be text on the left hand side and pictures on the right, I think there will be more picture than text, the text should be brief and attractive to catch the audiences attention, this is also to gain there interest. There also needs to be the magazine logo on then contents page to make it look more professional, it will also be important to add contact information just so audience can get in touch to give us some feedback and they can use website to join in on competitions.

Draft 3 (final Draft)

This is my final draft of my cover, it is set out well. I like the minimal and simple colours, it gives the magazine a great effect especially withe the colourfully and attractive straplines, i have now also added the website address a price label for magazine and a barcode. I have also changed the Headline to a quote from the interview within the magazine to make the story look more effective and interesting. I have also made the stapline bigger and bolder to interact with its audience. The font has also been changed and improved it noe looks alot neater than before.

Now I need to come up with some contents page drafts and ideas so that i can make a decent one to be included in the magazine, firstly I will look at layouts then i will go on to think about colours, pictures etc and start to head towards final draft of my contents page.

Cover Draft 2

Here is my second draft,it is looking better however there are still improvements needed, I need to work on the magazine title font, maybe get rid of the white border. I also need to do some more work on the coverlines and strapline, after this has been done i feel it will done and completed.

New Font Styles

Here are some ideas font the main font for magazine cover logo Font, I like them all they are rustic and have a worn eroded feel to them, please help me choose by giving me some feeback :)

Front cover Draft 1

This is my first draft of the cover, I like the black and white theme I thik it works well, however I think i need to make some improvements, I think the title needs to be bigger and in a different font, I also think the headline needs to be bigger and spread across the page, also the cover line colours need to be made more viable so they are easier to read but I think overall it was a good first attempt.

Front cover picture ideas : )

I have recently been out to take some pictures for my magazine, for now I am going to focus on cover pictures, My pictures must look professional and glamourous, they must be like this to attract target audience to influence them to buy magazine.

Picture 1

I like this picture, it is very natural, as you can see the person in this picture is not showing eye contact this is because he was focusing on the guitar, which I prefer a picture like this rather then a posed picture as it is more classic. If i did use this picture i would add effect to make it more interesting though to attract more attention.

This is another picture I could use for my cover, i do like it but it would need to be edited as it is quite a cramped so it would need to be spaced out to be more effective. The picture is also quite a long shot so it is hard to see detail but i will lokk over all pictures and decide which is right for the cover.

Plan For Magazine

From the feedback I have received This is the plan of action for my music magazine, The magazine will be called Encore !!! The colour scheme for my magazine will be blue and red inside the cover shall be black and white. The magazine will cost £2.00 and the magazine will contain indie and rock music. The magazine will be weekly and it will be aimed towards a mixed gender of the age s 16 to 19. Now I have to decide what layout I will use for the magazine and go out and take pictures for Cover page and double page spread, I shall take at least 7 photos and decide on which 3 or 4 I want to use.

This is my second plan, I have sctetched it out quickly but this is more of the style I would like to use as it is more organised, I would like to use this as the layout as it is set up well the cover colour should be black and white as that is the style and theme I am looking for.

This is a scetch of my first idea for a cover layout, i need to choose a layout before I can think about my pictures etc..

I think this layout could work but I would prefer just to have one picture on the cover, I think the cover should be more professional and more detailed. I have done two other layout which i will post i will then post all three and then do a poll on which people think are the best the one which get the most positive feedback will be the one used.

Magazine: I have named my magazine Encore !!!

Target audience: Encore !!! is a magazine which is aimed at students, boys and girls between ages 16 and 19, it is a music magazine with unsigned bands that are getting popular included. It is a fantastic magazine because it has gig dates, competitions, interviews ratings etc. The magazine includes indie music, so it is targeted at indie fans. The magazine will be weekly, it will be stylish and crisp also it will be eye catching with vibrant colours.

Form and Style: Encore !!! is an A4 full colour magazine that contains unsigned bands, interviews and music news it will sometimes include famous bands as well. The unsigned bands in the magazine are all around the same age of the target audience, they are all trying to spread the word of there band, a lot talk to us about their musical experiences so far. There will be cover lines on the front of the magazine to attract attention to engage readers into what sort of things will be covered. There will be mention of offers and competitions. The font style will be big, bold and punchy to make magazine attractive. The magazine will cost £2.00 per week which is affordable for students.

Themes and Typical Features: Magazine will look at music related topics and will include guitar tabs etc. It will also include interviews each week with the cover artist, there will also be competitions, bands, news also there will be teenage topics, like fashions opportunities, teen issues and will explain how a band can be created. There will also be famous band included which will talk to us.

Potential Advertisers: There will be a range of brands that will advertise in the magazine each week, particularly music related advertisements for example guitar and drums advertisements from Fender and Ddrums etc. Also album releases and maybe some music inspired fashion.

Editorial Team: The editorial team for Encore !!! will be made up of people from the ages 16-22 similar to the target audience. The Readers of the magazine will also regularly asked to contribute ideas and views via text, Facebook, and Letter. The aim is to cover something new each week.

Double Page spread: Ian Dury (mojo)

There is a large picture of Ian Dury and the Blockheads which the article is on. The picture is in black and white, the band look scruffy and a bit rough round the edges, I think the picture is in black and white to give the retro old look. There is also lots of text which starts large and gets smaller. The is also a picture of Ian and his father which overlaps the other main picture it is a picture of Ian when he was young and it is also black and white, it looks like a Polaroid picture as there is a white border around it, it has a caption to explain what is happening in the picture. At top of the fist page is a large drop cap which is eye catching, it also breaks up text to make it more readable, as it is space out. There is a also a quote from the article which is placed over some kind of wall paper which is in colour which could mean he was from a working class background, I think the colour is also added to contrast to the other pictures and text to make the piece more visually interesting, it could also be put into colour to show the importance of the quote which really makes Ian Dury sound like a very interesting and deep person. The ratio of picture to text, is 55 to 45 with there being slightly more picture than text.

Q magazine contents page Textual Analysis

The Q magazine contents page has a lot of pictures, the pictures that are smaller are in colour, this is to make them more attractive to the reader. There is also a large black and white picture of Cheryl Cole who is in fact the cover artist, she is again looking very glamorous, and sexy which again will appeal to a male audience. 80% of this contents is picture and the other 20% is text, this is because they tell there own story plus i think it is done like this so it does not give away to much about the articles. The contents page is actually split into two, but it is separate as the page i have looked at covers the features and the other covers just the regular bits and bobs.

Textual Analysis Contents Page (Kerrang)

The contents page is a half page with the top half being a picture and the bottom showing what is featured. It is organised into different sub heading which is easy to use, it is however a bit cluttered as it is aimed more towards students than adults. There is an editor’s column which just gives a few thoughts from the editor. Within the actual contents there are small pictures to relate to the text and there is a bit in the corner that mentions about subscribing to the magazine which is a clever way to advertise the magazine from within text is in black and yellow which is a good effective way to tell what is where. There is a distressed text to give a cool stylish looking effect. There is also mention of competitions as early as the contents page to attract the reader to have a go, as it is a good way for the magazine to make more money.

Textual Analysis 3 Kerrang

I have looked at Kerrang Magazine,The Masthead is Large, it is black and white and has a shatter effect which gives the idea of Loud music. The Strapline is bold, with puns and Plays on words. There is a Headline which states '50 Albums You Need To Hear In 2009' which has straplines with which Bands are included, with coloured group pictures of bands to relate to text. It has lots of pictures to attract attention, it also ,makes it look like you are getting more for the money, the music in this magazine is mainly alternative . Kerrang is a magazine that runs weekly and is very popular in its own right but i would say it is a student style magazineas it is made of paper and it is cheaply made. The magazine has a scruffy jumbled fell as if the magazine is saying' Its Music, Its affordable.

Textual Analysis 2 Q magazine

I have also looked at Q magazine, it is a smart , well presented magazine, on the cover is a picture of Cheryl Cole, the picture is an extreme close up and she is looking very Glamourous and Sexy, which will atrract attention from a male audience, in the picture Cheryl is licking her ring which will suduce you into buying the magazine. I believe the magazine is for die hard, it is a professionally magazine,with many well known known bands in such as Muse, Snow Patrol, Paul Weller etc. The Strapline on this magazine has there catchphrase on it stating they are the uks biggests music magazine. There are also Coverlines on each side to make you feel you are getting your moneys worth for the magazine . Also on the left at the top has the famous Qlogo in the famous red and white colours. At the top bottom of the page is the page is the the headline of the magazine which is related to the cover artist Cherly Cole, it has a play on words to make the title interesting.

Textual Analysis 1 Mojo

I have looked at Mojo, it is a very stylish music magazine,it looks to me the way it is portrayed, it has been professionally set upand looks like an interesting Magazine for educated people. The bands which are in the magazine are very proffesional bands that have had great success and have hughe fan bases. There was a free cd with the magazine which will make the audience think they are getting more for there money. The picture takes up the whole page, the cover picture is of Jimmy Page out of Led Zeppelin, the picture is in black and white and gives a retro feel as it is a picture of Jimmy Page as a young man in Led Zep. There are coverlines on each side to make it look as though the magazine is worth the £4.50 you would pay for it. There is a strapline at the top of the cover which indicates there is a free CD and has topics of interest included to. The masthead is large and bold and white to show it is the name of the magazine.

Action Plan

I need to do a plan to help to construct my music magazine, we have 10 weeks to complete this task, in the first week i need to look at magazines to see what sort of music i want to do mine on.

In the second week i need to do 3 textual anlysis and some internet reasearch to look at how to construct my magazine, i also need to look at effects to help make my magazine interesting.

In the third week i need to do some audience research, i need to have a think about what my target audience is and i need to have a think about what colours and font I am going to use.

In the Fourth week I am going to do a photo shoot for the cover picture for my magazine and I also need to draft layout of magazine.

In the Fifth And Sixth week I aim to construct cover of magazine.

In the seventh and Eighth week I will construct Double spread contents page.

In the Ninth and Tenth week I shall do any bits of finishing off and complete 7 questions for evaluation.

Plan Of Action

We have been asked to create a Music Magazine, with a double page spread, before i can do this i must look at some music magazines to influence ideas for my own, I also need to do some textual analysis, where i need to look at stlyes, colours and font size etc. And explain what effects they are giving.
